Creating Design That Sticks

About

I have a passion for communication design, particularly in the research behind what makes a design solution work. One of the most recent projects I am most proud of was working on the Adobe Reel Ideas studio–where I helped develop a brand and online presence for the Cannes 2007 festival. This integrated my love for branding, interface design, and interactive design.

I’m a bit of a perfectionist, but I’m learning not to be too precious with my work and work iteratively to help stay on schedule and on budget.

I thrive when working with other people, because I love how solutions come together from a vast number of different experiences.

I’m also an avid blogger, and love to document my process and experiences—not only does this represent my dedication to process, but it also gives me a chance to share with other designers. I think that sharing within the design community is really important for everyone.

What excites me about design is the challenge in every project, because not project is the same, nor will it have the same solution.

I don’t think smart and successful design comes from a unique, or brand new idea, but rather an accumulation of the new and the already proven effective solutions and then implementing them, re-contextualizing them to work for a specific need.

Design is a journey.

I say this because this is how I look at every opportunity. There are many winding paths that each lead to a different solution. Along every path there are always road blocks, set backs, and sometimes there are even short cuts. There is also a constant motion of moving forward on this journey, collecting new knowledge with every milestone met.

I am a social person and love to meet new people. I thrive on new stories and experiences and find it always makes it’s way into my creativity.
