In our term 3 typography class, our final project was a type study of type found in our environment.

I went around downtown Vancouver to study typography in band posters placed on street posts, construction walls, and anywhere else they may have been pasted. I didn’t stick to a specific genre of music, but I did find that a lot of genres had similar looking type. For example, a lot of the indie music was hand rendered, and had quirky illustrations; while a lot of the electronica posters had very simplistic forms for their fonts..

I put all my photos together and created my own poster. I have two treatments of the same poster..
