- Vector Portrait
In our term 2 class for 2d graphics, our final was a vector self portrait.
I was lucky enough that Danny Chan, our wonderful TA, had taken some great photos of me from term 1 during a production shoot. I was able to use one of them for this project.. I didn’t follow all shadows correctly, […]
- Type Study
In our term 3 typography class, our final project was a type study of type found in our environment.
I went around downtown Vancouver to study typography in band posters placed on street posts, construction walls, and anywhere else they may have been pasted. I didn’t stick to a specific genre of music, but I did […]
- A typographic experiment
In term 1 we went on a field trip to the Regional Assembly of Text, with our teacher Robin Mitchell.
We were able to use the letterpress, and choose our from their collection of typefaces. It was a great experience, to get in there and really think about the letter forms, and how well they will […]
- Ninja bunny!
Here is a character I developed from a short project in Term 2.

I decided to hunt through the old hard drive, and post up some work I did during the past 3 terms.
This is a piece I did for our 2d graphics course in term 1. We had to create a new window display. We actually went out on a field trip around downtown Vancouver to take […]

I am taking my time going through all of it, as there seems to be about a million hours worth of music. This is definitely a good thing, I love being exposed to different music, and rediscover some oldies, but […]
- Font Friday
Considering I missed last Friday’s Font post, I decided to move it to Monday -giving Monday one more chance to be cool.
Browsing through some of my del.icio.us links, I revisited two font foundries I currently enjoy.
Underware is a great type foundry, where I actually purchased my very first font a few years ago, called […]
- A typographic book search
A little while ago, a friend came across an interesting search engine that displayed the results by writing out the name using the books that matched the search.
I searched my name, and it came back with this. You can try your own searches at Amaztype. It’s a smart, and clever way of approaching a search.
- Back to the grind
After four days off, we are thrust back in to Term 4 at VFS. We will be starting some electives, a long with pitching our grad project ideas within the next couple of weeks.
The four days off was just enough to relax, and catch up on some well needed sleep, but definitely too short to […]
